Physician Communication & Partnership
The Physician Communication trainings deliver enhanced collaboration with hospital partners and physicians through improved Organ Procurement Organization and healthcare staff communication skills.
Currently, the trainings are delivered as workshops, consisting of a half- or full-day of didactics, exercises, interactions and role-play for OPO and healthcare staff and leadership. Pre-workshop surveys of the attendees and interviews with senior leadership by the presenters further serves to customize the workshop to the specific needs of the organization. Post-workshop surveys serve to provide valuable and actionable feedback to senior leadership following the workshop.
Workshop presenters are experienced hospital and Organ Procurement Organization clinicians.
Host the workshop locally, save costs on staff travel, and train maximum number of staff by working with shift schedules.
Receive actionable post-workshop feedback direct from staff and presenters.

About the Presenters
Hedi Aguiar, Founding Principal of Fundamental Roots, a critical care nurse and former ICU educator, worked for several years in the Hospital Services' role, in the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) community, as a coordinator and eventually in management. This eventually led her to a position as a Senior Director of Programs for a national organization before founding and leading Fundamental Roots.
Dr. Wilkins is a well-known and highly respected physician champion and national speaker and leader. Until October 2020, he worked as a trauma attending and was engaged by an OPO to be a donation champion and has remained one for many years. He eventually served as the Administrative Medical Director for an OPO and today, he leads an OPO as the President and Chief Executive Officer.
Both Hedi and Dr. Wilkins have served on and led multiple national workgroups and councils and presented nationally and internationally. In partnership, during their personal time, they developed communication and conflict management trainings with an emphasis on physician communication. Together they have offered and delivered consulting and trainings to the OPO community for several years now.
